This iPhone app turns your Live Photos into GIFs
As you probably know, along with the actual image, the feature captures a second and a half of movement and sound before and after the photo is taken. Live Photos include audio, but obviously the GIF versions don’t. It can also be used as a wallpaper on your iPhone or even the Apple Watch.
But a new app, Live GIF, is created to help users share their Live Photos with pretty much anyone.
Converting a Live Photo to a GIF or video is quick and easy.
Additionally, Live GIF offers 3D Touch support for peeking at photos, or the quick action of launching the app and creating a GIF out of your last Live Photo.
There is one big problem with Live Photos though, and that’s while you and other iOS 9 and Mac OS X El Capitan users can enjoy them in all their animated glory, share one with users on other platforms – Windows or Android, for example – and all the recipient will see is the standard still image. The resulting file can then be shared anywhere, and the app provides a simple sharing mechanism for quick access to things like iMessage and Facebook. After opening, you’ll be greeted with all of the Live Photos on your device.
With Live GIF, you can export your Live Photos as a GIF or as a video so you can easily edit it and share it with other people. Once you’ve picked one to share, you can choose either to “share as GIF” or “share as video”, then select which service you want to share them on, and you’re done. Keep in mind that you need to be jailbroken if you’re looking to reap the benefits of this tweak.
Live GIF is available for $1.99 via the App Store. The app is highly recommended. The new Live photos can be seen only on i0S 9 and sharing such photos to the non-iOS users had been the point of pain, thankfully that will be eliminated with this app.
