This might just be the best thing about ‘Star Wars: Episode VIII’
One of the biggest unanswered questions in Star Wars: The Force Awakens pertains to Daisy Ridley’s phenomenal new character Rey. She obviously has connections to other players in this far, far away galaxy, but they are all hidden for now. The only concrete thing we know about Rey is the she was left to fend for herself in Jakku with no apparent reason.
No word yet on if any of these moments will be written into the Star Wars: Episode VIII script. The movie opens in theaters May 26, 2017. Do what you must.
As you can see in the YouTube video above, the game’s final battle pits Rey against Kylo Ren.
As explained by YouTuber Joe Vargas, one of the first to point out the game’s apparent goof, Ren isn’t actually calling Rey his cousin. Everyone in the movie says to him or her self, “You can do this, you can do this”. Time it right, and you can get him to say “curses” right after “face me” which, to some, sounds like he’s saying “face me, cousin”. Not so long after the rumors surfaced, Pablo Hidalgo, part of the Lucasfilm Story Group, took to Twitter to make clear it. “Oh, come on”.
While this seems a little unlikely – we all watched the Villain Formerly Known as Ben murder his own father, Han Solo, after all – the theory, put forward by Reddit user Vrso3g, is rooted in Ren’s admiration of his grandfather, Lord Vader.
Now, in the case of Rey touching Luke’s lightsaber, we get glimpses of her memory, some past, and others telling the future.
