This Spice Girls Remake Just Caught Victoria Beckham’s Attention
Twenty years after Spice Girls made a debut via their single “Wannabe”, a different twist to the song has been released.
Filmed on location in places like Mumbai, India and Cape Town, South Africa with some pretty unbelievable dancers who totally nail the Spice Girls moves, the video includes important messages staged throughout like “End Child Marriages” and “Equal Pay for Equal Work”.
While Sporty Spice Melanie C tweeted that she is “honoured” their music is being used for such a great cause.
“This is about modern-day girl power”, director of the “Wannabe” video MJ Delaney told The Guardian.
The video, launched as part of Project Everyone’s The Global Goals website, features worldwide performers dancing in front of signs and murals spelling out some of the goals.
“Girl power has come a long way, let’s take it further”, a card shown at the end of the video says, encouraging viewers to share a photo of themselves with the hashtag #WhatIReallyReallyWant.
The entire objective of the video is to remind world leaders of their promise from last September. The messages will be presented to world leaders during the U.N. Sustainable Development Summit in September this year.
To make those Global Goals famous so that they stand the greatest chance of being achieved, campaigner and filmmaker Richard Curtis teamed with Gail Gallie and Kate Garvey, with the trio founding Project Everyone, launching the Global Goals campaign.
Around the globe, people have started sharing pictures of themselves holding up signs asking for what they want for girls and women.
So, an all new video is the latest project from the United Nations Global Goals campaign to promote gender equality, education for all, ending violence against women and a whole host of other women’s rights issues.
The video will not only be seen on YouTube but a founding partner, SAWA Global Cinema Advertising Association, will have the video play in movie theaters internationally as well!
