This year’s Royal Rumble is truly unpredictable, and that’s great
“It’s my time to shine”, said Corbin, who will compete Saturday in a three-way WWE World Title match against current champ Styles and the always risky Orton. Everything Jericho does is solid gold, though. There will be 60,000-plus fans there, so it will be like a mini-WrestleMania, and it’s one of everyone’s favorite pay-per-views each year, so to be able to be a part of that, well, I’m trying not to get emotional right now thinking about it. Now don’t get me wrong, I like Charlotte Flair and I strongly believe she helped re-define women’s wrestling, but she really doesn’t need the belt anymore, to the extent that I believe it is killing the prestige of the title.
That could be guys debuting in WWE for the first time like AJ Styles past year, men stepping up from NXT either temporarily or permanently or guys returning from either injuries or time away from the company. It’s no secret that the Attitude Era was WWE’s most popular time, so any star from that era returning would surely create a huge buzz. After that I’ve tried to go to every local MMA event around the Gulf Coast and surrounding areas and decided to make it a point to have a career in some aspect in the fighting sport other than fighting in general (didn’t want to ruin my face). I’m also confident that Cena will win at Elimination Chamber. This is where 30 superstars will compete against each other. He’d likely go out on his back with Cena winning an all-time classic years in the making, a de facto passing of the torch at the company’s biggest show of the year. Once Taker realized he was eliminated, his attention slowly tuned to Maven, who he proceeded to beat down all the way to the backstage area. How does someone like Strowman play into this equation? Bring in Joe and give him a big spot here, and then turn him loose on either show.
There are way too many issues with this kind of scenario. I’d be curious to know what yours are.
If he wins, however, it would be a different story as there’s no way that he’ll be an entrant while also being the NXT champion. The run Mike Mizanin has been on – sans the Intercontinental Title – has been brilliantly written.
What the WWE would do story-wise if he did win is another matter entirely, the only logical match being against Roman Reigns for the Universal title which isn’t a very enticing one for the fans.
WWE can develop many more creative programs with the happy couple on top of the mountain. So could Barron Corbin.
I like this scenario as a close second to Jericho winning the right to go to WrestleMania. Some people look at that as a negative, not me. But will things come to a head this weekend at the Rumble, or is that a showdown destined for Orlando’s showpiece event, Wrestlemania, in April? Will a surprise victor emerge?
Although Ambrose now has two of the top 20 selling items on WWEShop.com and is clearly one of WWE’s most popular stars, there’s virtually nothing to suggest that he’ll be a legitimate contender this year. Let’s all slow that down a bit. “I don’t know how to explain it, I just (want) to show that I’m not just a generation kid”.
