Thomas Rawls: Out for season with broken ankle
The injury occurred during the Seahawks’ opening drive Sunday.
However, the Seahawks overcame an error from DuJuan Harris to extend their advantage when Wilson threw his second touchdown of the game to Doug Baldwin on a crossing route. He scored five touchdowns (four rushing, one receiving) this season.
Rawls, the Seahawks’ sensational rookie, broke his left ankle in Sunday’s 35-6 victory at Baltimore and is out for the season.
The Seahawks continued to shuffle their injury-riddled backfield, officially re-signing Bryce Brown and placing undrafted rookie Thomas Rawls on injured reserve.
-PASS DEFENSE: D. Seattle quarterback Russell Wilson torched the Ravens’ secondary for five touchdown passes.
Over the last four, Wilson has thrown for 16 touchdowns and no interceptions.
Seattle poured further misery on the Ravens when Wilson and Baldwin connected for the third time in the match as the wideout beat his man to leave himself wide open in the endzone to collect the quarterback’s 16-yard pass.
“It’s a good opportunity to bring a guy back that we have been training that we liked the work that he did”. Sherman managed to get his second interception on the season off Clausen on Sunday, as the Seahawks have stretched their streak of not giving up an offensive touchdown to 8 straight quarters.
On the defensive side of the ball Mike started by giving the defensive line a grade of D saying “the Ravens seemed to settle down a little once running back Thomas Rawls left the game with an injury early in the first quarter”. He has thrown for at least 200 yards and a touchdown in all 13 games this season.
“Our commitment is going to stay the same because we have a balance that we really play with”. Harris had 18 carries for 42 yards and a fumble in the red zone that could cost him his chance to start if Lynch cannot play.
One solution for their offense dilemma is for veteran running back Marshawn Lynch, who suffered a sports hernia, to return. He is out for the year, coach Pete Carroll said. But neither is a viable option in the backfield if the 8-5 Seahawks, who are now clinging to a Wild Card spot, have any hope of defending their NFC Championship this postseason. Given that he has only been in this locker room and reading this playbook for about two weeks now, Clausen going 23 of 40 for 274 yards shows that the young quarterback might have something worthy of a second look.
CLAUSEN ENCORE: Forced into the starting lineup for injured Matt Schaub, Baltimore’s Jimmy Clausen became the sixth quarterback since 1950 to face a team twice in one season as a starter for two different teams.
“We’ll see how Marshawn does”, Carroll said.
The loss assured Baltimore its first losing season since coach John Harbaugh took over in 2008. It was the Ravens’ first game this season that was not decided by eight points or fewer.
“Obviously a very tough outcome”.
“I’ve learned a lot”, Harbaugh said. “He’s really been a great asset to us this year, and we love the way he’s played”.
