Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi’s latest wins acclaim at Sundance
Victor of the Toronto International Film Festival Midnight Madness People’s Choice Award, WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS was also an Official Selection at the Sundance Film Festival, the Berlin International Film Festival, and more. It’s safe to say that he’s one of our current favorite directors.
Last year’s What We Do in the Shadows, which enjoyed widespread critical success and a healthy $6.9M box office, saw Waititi and Clement write, direct, and star in the tale of vampires attempting to settle their differences and flatshare in modern-day Wellington, New Zealand.
And while he’s promoting that film, reporters can’t help but ask him about a couple of his other upcoming projects – like Thor: Ragnarok and the What We Do in the Shadows spinoff.
Those who have seen the film will know the trio of vampires had a number of hilarious run-in’s with a pack of werewolves, scenes in which numerous picture’s memorable one-liners were said. And it has a title so good that we’re going to force you to hit the jump to actually read it.
Oh, and you thought “werewolves, not swearwolves” was a strong pun?
New Zealand audiences get their first look at Taika Waititi’s new feature film Hunt for the Wilderpeople today with the release of the films first teaser video.
Be sure to check out our own recent interview with Waititi, where he discusses his vision for the next Thor movie!
Wilderpeople feels like a throwback to ’80s adventure films in some ways, but it mostly just feels like a new childhood classic.
