THOR: RAGNAROK on The Cover of Entertainment Weekly!
The magazine cover also gives fans their first proper look at Blanchett as the evil Goddess Hela, as well as another new character Valkyrie. Thor: Ragnarok won’t devolve into some full-blown comedy, so you don’t actually have to worry that the movie had dropped any of its grit. That and much more have Thor: Ragnarok shaping up to be one of if not the most anticipated super hero film to release this year.
Perhaps director Taika Waititi (What We Do in the Shadows) wanted to avoid any resemblance between Hemsworth and his new co-star, Academy Award victor Cate Blanchett (Blue Jasmine, The Aviator).
A lot of fans have been anxious about the comedic shift that Ragnarok is heading towards but director Taika Waititi (Hunt for the Wilderpeople) doesn’t feel the pressure from the fans.
Taika Waititi is directing, with Stephany Folsom, Craig Kyle, Eric Pearson and Christopher Yost having worked on the screenplay. It’s exciting to see the look at tone of the upcoming film and the style that Waititi is bringing to this film. But maybe his new weaponry has to do something with him being sent to a new gladiator planet called Saakar during a bout with Hela. It’s there that Thor realizes he’s nothing special.
Somehow, Thor finds himself entered into the gladiator matches on Sakaar, and that’s why he gets a haircut and loses his hammer. Those types of things usually aren’t particularly amusing. He fathered a child in the comic books on the planet, and then returned to Earth with a vengeance. Hulk was armored in the comics, one of the coolest looks ever, nearly cooler than the giant, trench coat wearing gray Hulk of earlier days.
Back to Ragnarok, which is the Norse word for “the Doom of the Gods”, which many compare to armageddon. A woman, Jane Foster, now wields the hammer of Thor, while a disgraced Odinson gets drunk, fights space orcs, and spends time with his giant magical goat named Toothgnasher in The Unworthy Thor. Turns out Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk has ended up here and is Sakaar’s most successful – and popular – fighter. And the creatures he’ll have to battle in this new world’s gladiatorial arena include a familiar face.
“Thor: Ragnarok” hits theaters November 3.
Tom Hiddleston’s Loki looks even more pleased as he sips down a colorful beverage surrounded by equally colorful people. Also returning will be Antony Hopkins as Odin.
Thor: Ragnarok is directed by Taiki Waititi, and also stars Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk, Karl Urban and Jeff Goldblum.
You’re probably wondering about the Hulk.
