Thousands line up to see Donald Trump in Everett
A recent Elway Poll showed Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton with a double-digit lead over Trump in Washington – 43 percent to 24 percent.
Expect more speeches like this going into the weekend when Trump will travel to Detroit to conduct an interview with the president of the Impact Network, a black evangelical TV channel, which would represent the first time he’s spoken directly to an African-American audience on the campaign trail. Don Benton, dismissed such surveys as underestimating the candidate’s appeal.
To those of us outside of the United States system, while it is well-recognised that the stable functioning of the American economy is critical to our own well-being, it is most likely the case that the aspect of Trump’s potential behaviour, if he is elected, will be more visible, and therefore more significant to us, may be in respect of his foreign policy, a relative unknown apart from his public statements as a candidate in recent times.
There is another lure for Trump – campaign money.
“At a minimum, the public should plan for closures of Hewitt, Oakes, Lombard, Broadway and Wall near the arena Tuesday afternoon and evening”, said Aaron Snell, Everett Police public information officer.
Law enforcement personnel from other area agencies will also be in Everett to assist with traffic control and security, Snell said.
But Benton said interest in the fundraiser has exceeded expectations, drawing hundreds of donors from as far away as Alaska.
O’Mara said Trump doesn’t sacrifice all that much when he visits non-battleground states like Washington because of his unusual ability to draw media coverage with incendiary rhetoric.
Aircraft-industry experts have rejected such claims, which Trump has made throughout the year, as laughably false. Aboulafia said that if anything, there has been a trend toward moving airplane-manufacturing jobs back to the U.S. “We are firmly committed to the Puget Sound region”, he said.
A view of the campaign, which can now be said to be in its last lap prior to November, suggests that neither of the candidates has put forward a platform that can dramatically impress the electorate.
Trump last campaigned here in May, drawing large crowds in Spokane and Lynden, Whatcom County.
The Trump campaign said those who’ve requested free tickets through the Trump website should show up early.
People started gathering outside the facility hours before the doors opened and the line to get in stretched for blocks.
The big rally in Everett is expected to draw the big press coverage-and protests.
Benton said he found it “ironic” that Democrats are denouncing Trump “when their party and their politics are responsible – directly responsible – for the poverty that minorities have suffered in this country”.
None of that is stopping Trump from holding a rally in Washington.
