Thousands of New Zealanders march for women’s rights
The event has grown so much, it’s spread to other cities all over the world.
Speakers will be at the march to talk about women’s rights, including small business owner Alicia Beck, doctor Stacy Meredith Bennett, retired state Rep. Naomi Jakobsson and motivational speaker Tanisha King-Taylor.
Have women not suffered enough from ultimately always trying to prove that they are equal to men, or do politicians need to take away their basic human rights as well?
Both the national and local marches will take place the day after the inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump. She said she’s heard people are excited that a march is planned for Duluth on Saturday. “March in solidarity with women marching in D.C”. These marches are a way for those of us who can not travel to Washington, D.C., to organize our communities, make our voices heard and help build the movement.
“I think it’s just about being visible and know that you have to be accountable to us”.

Thousands of women will be in Washington, D.C. this weekend protesting Donald Trump’s inauguration. “We are going to stand and march with hundreds of thousands of people”.
The march aims to send a message to the new administration and to the world that women’s rights are human rights.
“I’ve had a lot of support from other women that can’t go, that are really excited that I’m going, kind of for them, in a way, as a representative”, Mitchell said.
Trump’s presidency worries her.
“Together with Chime for Change, we raise our voices as mothers, as artists, and as activists”. “If we had more time I bet we would have 50 buses, but we had to stop it because we’re two days away”. And that we make up America just as much as everyone else, right? “I want to make sure that Mr. Trump, who will be our president in a few hours understands that’s it’s not amusing and it’s not a joke and he needs to tone it down a little bit”.
