Thousands of women march against Trump around the United Kingdom and the world
President Donald Trump’s inauguration wasn’t the only political event that captured audiences across the country the past couple of days. The ubiquitous symbol of the women’s marches, the “pussyhat”, directly referenced the infamous “grab ’em by the pussy” remark the President made on the hot mic “Access Hollywood” tape. City officials estimate that 500,000 people participated in the main march in Washington, DC.
President Donald Trump mocked protesters who gathered for large demonstrations across the US and the world on Saturday to signal discontent with his leadership, questioning whether they voted and criticizing celebrities who participated in the events.
In Asia, hundreds of people joined protests in Tokyo, including many American expatriates.
Thousands of women are expected to attend the London march on Saturday, with other events to be held in United Kingdom towns and cities including Belfast, Cardiff, Lancaster, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, Shipley and Edinburgh.

No official crowd estimates were available from the National Park Service or Washington police.
The crowd was so large that even with JumboTrons and speakers spread throughout, many couldn’t see or hear what was happening onstage. Marijuana use is legal in Washington, and DCMJ plans to pass out thousands of marijuana cigarettes, or joints, for supporters to smoke during Trump’s inaugural speech, to show support for legalization. They decried Trump’s stand on such issues as abortion, health care, diversity and climate change.
The Women’s March on Washington took place the day after Trump’s inauguration, Saturday, January 21.
The Trump administration incorrectly told reporters on Saturday that 1.5 million attended the inauguration, and insisted, without offering any evidence, it was the largest turnout ever.
