Thousands rally, march in anti-Trump protests
LA WALK Demonstrators, including migrants, spill into the streets of Los Angeles in another day of protests against Donald Trump, even as the president-elect appeared to back away from the fiery rhetoric that propelled him to theWhite House.
It’s the latest in days of demonstrations across the country.
Numerous protesters say they will keep marching right up until Trump’s inauguration.
The protesters made their way through the streets holding signs and chanting phrases including “Not my president”, and “We reject the president-elect”.
Clutching a placard reading “Not My President”, 67-year-old Kansas high school teacher David Young says he objects to what he perceived to be Trump’s intolerance toward Hispanics and others during his campaign.
President-elect Donald Trump is embarking on the massive undertaking of creating a new administration as a circus-like atmosphere unfolds around his building in Manhattan. Some are questioning the legitimacy of Trump’s victory by noting that although he took the Electoral College, Clinton won the popular vote.
Rowdy demonstrators marched through downtown Portland, Oregon, again Saturday night despite calls from the mayor and police chief for calm.
The incident occurred amid violent protests in Portland in which the police fired tear gas on Friday night after “burning projectiles” were hurled at officers.

More anti-Trump demonstrations could be on the way.
The Portland Police Bureau is asking for the public’s help identifying other suspects involved in the protest.
Thousands of protesters marched in other major cities like Los Angeles and Chicago. The group of a couple hundred protesters was much smaller than previous nights, when there were thousands of protesters.
The New York Police Department reported that 11 people had been arrested as of late Friday, the New York Times said. Officers were attempting to disperse the protesters using a “diversionary bang device” after warning them to leave the street.
Labelling the protestors professional or incited, said Kenneth Roth, the head of Human Rights Watch, doesnt change their First Amendment right: the right of the people peaceably to assemble.
Authorities say the person has been taken to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries and police are looking for the suspect.
They were blocking the city’s light rail service and restricting traffic flow, police said. Police say a shooter was in a vehicle on a bridge that spans the Willamette River and that there was a confrontation with someone in the protest march. Organized by BlackMatters, a nonprofit news outlet which focuses on black issues in the United States, the event’s Facebook page emphasized that it would be a peaceful demonstration.
