Thousands walk to end Alzheimer’s
The Walk to End Alzheimer’s raised $74,300.
“We walk out of hurt, out of love, out of misunderstanding, but also with a goal”, she said. As of Friday, they had reached $48,000.
“Like cancer, Alzheimer’s disease is not a virus one can be inoculated for. Researchers are discovering more about causes and treatment every day”. With an intention of battling against this appalling disease, people from Huntington on Saturday got down onto the pavements in order to raise awareness among the general public, and raise money required for the research notwithstanding the bleak weather. Its mission is to eliminate the disease through the advancement of research, to provide and enhance care and support for those affected by the disease and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health.
Teresa Gutierrez’ purple flower represented someone lost to Alzheimer’s disease. Now, many of her friends also have parents with Alzheimer’s.
“We may not find a cure for our current generation but I have a daughter”.
Since 1989, the Alzheimer’s Association has mobilized millions of Americans in the Alzheimer’s Association Memory Walk.
