Threats made against 3 local school districts prompt early dismissal, extra police
Police say an unidentified person called the school saying that there was a bomb on the property.
“I’m proud of how our student body reacted today”, wrote Stamford High principal Raymond Manka, echoing Hohn’s observation, on his Twitter account.
He did not elaborate on the nature of the threat.
On the Eastern Shore of Maryland, Wicomico County Public Schools officials said that Wicomico County High School in Salisbury received an automated bomb threat message shortly before 1 p.m.Officials said students and staff were kept safe in place as police and a K-9 searched the school.
Stamford High School was evacuated Tuesday after police responded to reports of a bomb threat at the school early in the afternoon.
Buses started picking up students at 1:30 p.m. and students leaving in personal vehicles started left at 1:45 p.m.
Two schools in Bristol sent students home early on Tuesday after threats were made against the schools. A school staff member told police they received a phone call from an out-of-state number, and that a male voice spoke an unknown language and then in English. Other similar threats have been received in Hartford recently.
The threat has forced the postponement of tonight’s scheduled basketball games between Tishomingo County and Belmont.
