Threats Reported at Schools in Multiple States
Students were dismissed Tuesday from three schools in MA, including Arlington High School, Groton Middle School and the Florence Roche School.
An unspecified threat has prompted evacuations in the Chichester School District. Similar threats were also reported in Maryland and Virginia.
Two more DE schools have been evacuated or placed on lockdown Wednesday morning following bomb threats, state police said. Affected buildings include the Boothwyn Elementary, Hilltop Elementary, Linwood Elementary, Marcus Hook Elementary and the Chichester Middle School and Chichester High School.
Bomb-sniffing K9 units were being brought in go through the schools.
Investigators worked to determine if the threats are connected.
At least three schools received threats over voicemail, authorities said. Both schools have reportedly been evacuated, or told to lockdown.
Edward Truitt, Delaware County’s emergency management director, says the district has been dealing with multiple threats the past few weeks. An administrative search was conducted of the cafeteria and once cleared, the students were moved into that area before being bussed to a predetermined location away from the school. The students are now being transported back to the school to resume school activities. The person stated that he or other suspects were armed on the roof of the schools, intending to harm students and faculty. All schools were inspected by police and determined safe around 2 p.m., police said.
New Jersey officials said schools in Teaneck, Garfield, Tenafly, Clifton, Fair Lawn, Leonia, Bergenfield, Englewood and Hackensack received threats from someone who claimed to have planted bombs.
