Three Games Utah Fans Should Watch This Weekend
Water seems to bring out the best in both of them. Expected to be among the nation’s worst power-conference programs last season, Oregon State instead emerged as a pleasant surprise. “When you’re losing your team is much more fragile and you have to be careful how you handle them.when you’re winning, they have bought in and they’ll believe in what you’re doing and really they’ll pay attention to pretty much whatever you say”, said Whittingham, “You’re part psychologist when you are a coach there’s no doubt about that, you gotta be tuned in.it’s just a matter of you having a good feel for where your guys are at and what hot buttons to push and how to handle them”. They really came to play – they played better than us, they outcoached us.
“I would like to see us get to 225 yards a week throwing, it hasn’t happened much this season but that would be ideal”, Whittingham said after the Washington game, noting that senior quarterback Travis Wilson threw for only 155 while completing 12-of-25 pass attempts. The Huskies jumped out to an early lead with a field goal. On the edge, UCLA transfer Kylie Fitts has played well as Hunter Dimick rehabs a shoulder injury.
The rain let up going into halftime, and so did the Utes. The Utes are coming off a 34-23 win at Washington last week for their second straight win since a 42-24 loss at USC. The Utes are home against UCLA next week, and then finish off at home against Colorado.
The win was noteworthy for a number of reasons other than the conditions in which it was played.
This is the Utes’ final road game of the season. He is listed as questionable for Saturday night’s game. However, Utah, after scoring on four Arizona match points in the third, fought off three set points in the fifth to cut the Wildcat edge to 14-13.
Devontae Booker ranks third in the conference with 1,116 yards and 10 touchdowns. Only two other players have had multiple 1,000-yard seasons in Utah’s history -Eddie Johnson (1984 and 1986) and John White (2011 and 2012), but Booker is the only one to do so in a shortened 2-year career. The Utes will hammer the Wildcats with Booker on the inside and Wilson occasionally through the air. If the Huskies end up not getting those two wins, they could very well be up for the unfortunate distinction of being the most talented team left out in the cold during bowl season considering they knocked off a ranked USC team and came close against Utah, Oregon, Cal and Boise State. Like Utah, Florida is 8-1, with its only loss coming on the road to a very good LSU team. The Gators have already clinched the SEC East title and a berth in the SEC Championship game. I could share the Big Ten piece of paper, if they’d like to see that also.
The season has been reduced to a battle for bowl eligibility for these 4-5 teams, trying to hit the six-win mark – although there should be room for a few 5-7 teams this year. Utah leads the series 20-18-2 overall, but has lost the last three contests.
“(The players) put the team first”, Ena said. Arizona took USC down to the wire before falling 38-30, and has an offense that can score in bunches. “I tell our team that all of the time”, Utes coach Kyle Whittingham said.
“Every single week, he’s been the same consistent guy for us”. The Wildcats looked competitive despite playing 10 straight games without a bye.

Why You Need To Care Utah’s trek toward a possible Pac-12 South title continues this weekend in the desert.
Saturday’s meeting will do more, much more, for Utah than tip the scale in its favor. The opinions expressed are not necessarily those of St. George News.
