She got the opportunity to portray a powerful woman who wasn’t afraid to speak her mind, and her personality just jumped off the screen.
John Boyega, who grew up in Peckham, south-east London, plays redeemed stormtrooper Finn in Stars Wars: The Force Awakens, which is set to become the biggest blockbuster of the year. She was escorted by her French bulldog Gary, who is frequently the star of her social media accounts.
“‘Star Wars’ made, and changed, movie and cultural history, and anybody who wants to make sense of either has to take it on”, wrote critic Glenn Kenny in “A Galaxy Not So Far Away: Writers and Artists on Twenty-Five Years of Star War“.
