Three Men Who Shot Black Lives Matter Protesters Emerged From Internet’s
Friday’s rally will be held at 6 p.m.at 310 Ezzard Charles Drive “in solidarity with the occupation of the police station in Minneapolis, protesters demanding justice for Laquan McDonald in Chicago, and all victims of white supremacy and police terror”, Black Lives Matter Cincinnati said.
The Sun Thisweek, a suburban Twin Cities newspaper, is reporting that Scarsella is “BlackPowderRanger,” the second masked man seen in the SaigaMarine video, though it is unclear whether that information was released by the police. Police also confirmed the Tuesday arrests of Allen Lawrence “Lance” Scarsella III, 23; Nathan Wayne Gustavsson, 21; and Daniel Thomas Macey, 26. Three of the men are white and one is Asian.
Neither relatives of the four suspects nor attorneys representing them could be reached for comment Wednesday evening.
A check of Macey’s name in Minnesota court records produces no results.
A Mankato, Minn., police officer said he got a phone call about 1 a.m. Tuesday from an old high school friend. Protesters have complained that grand juries are unlikely to indict police officers.
“Social video shows rising tensions after Minneapolis protest shooting” is categorized as “us”. Because the video has no audio track, it is hard to ascertain its content, but it shows what looks like the beginning of a scuffle after a tense exchange between protesters and the videographer.
Another rally is planned to mark the death of a Minneapolis man who was killed in a confrontation with police, despite pleas from some community members to avoid such actions on the day of his funeral. They were kicked out shortly after.
At least two people were shot in the leg, another in the arm and a fourth in the stomach, said Mica Grimm, an organizer with Black Lives Matter who said she arrived on the scene soon after the shooting. Participants took time to pray for Clark and his family.
Steven Belton, interim president of the Minneapolis Urban League, echoed those sentiments, saying protesters had achieved most of what they wanted.
Belton says the vigil must end and that it’s time to allow investigations to take their course.
