Three new stabbings in Jerusalem
Earlier Monday, an 18-year-old Palestinian man was killed after stabbing and lightly wounding a policeman in Jerusalem’s Old City.
Another person tells the police to “give him one in the head”.
“Indiscriminate or deliberate firing on observers and demonstrators who pose no imminent threat violates the global standards to which the Israeli security forces are bound”, the watchdog’s Executive Director Kenneth Roth said.
In the first incident, a Palestinian man attempted to stab a police officer near the Old City in eastern Jerusalem but was shot dead before he could injure his target.
Two attackers ran from the scene, and one – a 17-year-old – was shot by police as he ran toward them with a knife, Rosenfeld said.
A visit by representatives of the Quartet to Jerusalem and the headquarters of the Palestinian Authority was canceled. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because a formal announcement had not been made. No new date has been set, the AP reported. Israeli lawmakers complain daily about incitement by Palestinian factions.

For almost a month, Israel has been dealing with a wave of Palestinian unrest that shows no signs of stopping. Speaking to Parliament on Monday, he emphasized that the wave of knife stabbings targeting Jews was an effort to terrorize Israelis.
He called on the Palestinian president, Mahmoud Abbas, to condemn the violence.
In less than two weeks four Israelis and 23 Palestinians have been killed in Jerusalem, the Israeli-occupied West Bank, Gaza and in Israeli cities. “The USA, Britain, Israel and the [Palestinian] Authority thought that in the last 20 years these children would adapt to their ways, that they would contain them, but this did not happen”, he said.
One of the attackers was apparently hit by a vehicle and wounded.
Imprisoned Palestinian leader Marwan Barghouti on Sunday used a Guardian article to call on the worldwide community to tackle what he said was the root cause of the latest violence in Israel, the West Bank and the Gaza Strip: the Israeli occupation.
The attack took place in Pisgat Zeev, a Jewish settlement in traditionally Arab east Jerusalem, which Israel seized in the 1967 Mideast war.
Israeli media had previously reported different ages for the teen who was stabbed.
Palestinians carried out two stabbing attacks in Jerusalem on Saturday before being shot dead by police, while another two Palestinians were killed during a violent demonstration near the Gaza border fence.
Israeli leaders say the country’s large number of well-trained military veterans provides an extra layer of security. Several others have been shot dead.
Amid the continuing attacks, about 1,600 reserve border police officers have been mobilized in Jerusalem and throughout Israel, the Prime Minister’s office said in a statement over the weekend.

In northern Israel, an Arab Israeli struck four people with his vehicle before jumping out and stabbing them outside a kibbutz.
Israeli Arabs have demonstrated in support of Palestinian protests in the occupied West Bank that have accompanied the surge in attacks.
