Three people in Columbia have died due to the Zika virus

Traces of Zika’s genetic material were detected in saliva and urine during the 2013 outbreak in French Polynesia, but the Brazilian authorities say this is the first time “active” virus has been detected.

The new guidelines recommend that pregnant women with Zika-like symptoms who have traveled to the affected region should get tested for exposure.

He urged pregnant women to take special precautions, stressing both the seriousness of the discovery and the reality that it was too soon to say how it could impact on the epidemic.

The guidance also said the men might consider abstaining or using condoms even during sex with a woman who isn’t pregnant.

The guidelines recommend pregnant women be offered testing two to 12 weeks after returning home.

Zika, it’s important to point out, causes relatively mild symptoms, and for most people it’s nothing to worry about. “The relationship is not zika and abortion; it is microcephaly and abortion, ” he said.
