Three-point barrage leads Warriors to 135-116 win over Suns
Golden State had a 75-57 lead at the break after matching its highest-scoring half in a so-far ideal season.
The reigning National Basketball Association champions Golden State Warriors have extended their record breaking start to the season with a 135-116 victory over the Phoenix Suns on Friday night.
“A lot of that is based on our ball movement”, Curry said.
“They start blending together after a while”, Warriors interim coach Luke Walton said when informed of the records. Just like the rest of us, these players had to pick a user name, register for an account and compose that first tweet.
“A team like that, who is undefeated world champs, you’ve got to make things tough for them”, Hornacek said. “But we still want to get over 300 passes for a game”. Curry nailed five 3-pointers. The Warriors had a total of 44 pts scored in the first quarter, (most in a quarter, this season).
Hawks 116, Grizzlies 101 – Paul Millsap had 23 points and 14 rebounds, one of six Atlanta players who scored in double figures, and the visiting Hawks took control in the second half.
Giannis Antetokounmpo and Jerryd Bayless led Milwaukee with 17 points apiece. Thompson is averaging 16.1 and 15.8 at home. Green racked up a double double with 10 boards and 10 assists.
Russell Westbrook, Serge Ibaka, and Enes Kanter added 14 points apiece for the Thunder. “Their shots were pretty much wide open”. He was defending Markieff Morris in the post. The Warriors finally snapped their offensive funk when Bogut found a cutting Andre Iguodala for a wide-open dunk.
And then there’s Sacramento’s recent form on the defensive end. Those three plays by Bogut ignited a 25-10 run that put the Warriors up 26 with 1:11 left in the quarter.
The 3-point record could well have fallen had Curry not sat out the fourth quarter. His rebounding game, especially defensively, is showing its merit as he pulls down nearly five per night. Or quite possibly, which has been proven to work tremendously to Golden State’s advantage, Green has also shown his ability to play the small forward position. Barbosa scored a season-high 21 points.
“We’ll try to figure out who those five best defenders are and those will be the guys who are going to be out there for us because putting up all of those points – and I’m not just saying this about T.J., just any of our guys – we don’t care about the points, we’ve got to get stops and the points will come”.
Denver led by as many as 11 in a first half. Tobias Harris scored 19 points for Orlando, and Evan Fournier and Victor Oladipo had 17 apiece. The Suns shot 48.9 percent from the field and 38.5 percent from beyond the arc. Turnovers and missed free throws by Golden State allowed Phoenix to stay in the game.
Despite the blowout win, the Warriors got a taste of how all this success can change very quickly. X-rays taken were negative. Tyson Chandler did not return after leaving the game in the first quarter with a strained right hamstring.
