Three’s 4G Super Voice service claims to give better coverage
Three is the first network in the United Kingdom to enable VoLTE (voice over LTE), throwing the switch to make it possible to make calls and send messages over the 4G network.
“The best way I all the time consider it’s, when you’re making an attempt to get to sleep at night time and there is a get together on the finish of the road, the sound you hear is the bass, which is the low frequency”.
The technology allows a mobile signal to travel further into buildings and extends its reach to more rural areas, removing numerous current “blackspots” or not-spots – areas of little or no mobile coverage – across the country.
The customer simply needs to update the software on their compatible device to the latest version to access 4G Super-Voice completely free of charge. At the moment, Three’s 4G network only runs data services, so if you want to make a call, you’ll automatically fall back onto its 3G network.
Mobe network Three is the first to offer United Kingdom 4G voice services, with the service going live Tuesday, taking advantage of the 800MHz spectrum which Three bought in the 2013 auction.
Three claimed that its 800MHz network covers 50 percent of the population, including the majority of London, Edinburgh, Exeter and Birmingham.
The company predicts that as many as 5.5 million 3UK customers will be able to access its 4G Super-Voice service by 2017, subject to take-up and device compatibility. “You don’t hear the singing, which is the high frequency”. The 800 MHz spectrum has shorter wavelengths than Three’s spectrum at 1800MHz, meaning it is better at penetrating through walls. Although Three is the first network to announce VoLTE, it’s yet to announce Wi-Fi Calling.
Three has also begun rolling out the technology in many other towns and cities across the country including Cardiff, Manchester, Liverpool and Bristol.
According to Jones, about one million of Three’s customers will start enjoying better indoor coverage by the end of the year. This can embrace the Samsung Galaxy S5 and LG G4 at launch, with new units – together with the just lately introduced iPhone 6s and 6s Plus fashions – added later this yr. “That strategy helped us to take away all of the technical gremlins early”.
