Three starters ruled out for the Colts tonight
Quarterback Andrew Luck showed no ill effects after recovering from a concussion that caused him to miss their Thanksgiving loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, passing for 278 yards and four touchdowns without turning the ball over.
The New York Jets’ marketing slogan is, “Stronger, faster, greener”. They are, however, just 4-9 at the window in their last 13 games following a double-digit loss at home. No joke, you can buy a ticket to watch the upcoming Colts vs. Jets game for less than the cost of a beer. Hilton had yet another 100-yard game as he caught nine passes for 146 yards, and in doing so he passed Marvin Harrison for the most 100-yard games by a Colts receiver in his first five seasons in team history.
The Jets have not really used a tight end this season and have made this position irrelevant in their offensive gameplan.
With kickoff nearing, here are four storylines to watch once these squads take the field at MetLife Stadium. If the Jets lose tonight, look for Bowles to make the change and name Petty the starter for next Sunday’s game against the San Francisco 49ers.
“He played extremely well”, Pagano said.
Luck began the week as the NFL’s most-sacked quarterback but was sacked only once by the Jets, who failed to generate heat with their front four. If they can improve in these areas, then who knows where they can go, especially with a fit and ready Luck. Petty has completed 21 of 34 passing attempts this season for 182 yards with a touchdown and an interception. A three-and-out gave Luck the ball, and seven plays later, he hit a wide-open Allen for a 7-0 edge.
These teams are pretty evenly matched if we look at numberFire’s nERD metric, which measures just how good a team is based upon their expected point differential against a league average team.
Luck is the head of the offense, but there are also other viable threats that the Jets will have to pay extra attention towards.
Andrew Luck is the highest paid player in the National Football League, and he’s relatively well known. They are allowing the third-fewest rushing yards per game and are only allowing 3.6 yards per carry to opposing running backs.
This TY Hilton is one of the most risky playmakers in the National Football League. After being buried behind Fitzpatrick and Geno Smith past year, Petty entered training camp this summer as an unknown alongside rookie Christian Hackenberg.
That’s more than enough evidence to keep the team’s mind in the present.
