Three Suspected ISI Agents Held in Kolkata
Jahangir-on Sunday. According to sources, all three suspected ISI agents have strong links with the ruling party, Trinamool Congress.
Kolkata Police Special Task Force (STF) today detained three ISI suspects, all members of a family, from Garden Reach in south Kolkata following a tip off from Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) after arrest of ISI agent Mohammad Eizaz from Meerut Cantonment area.
Meanwhile, the local Sadar police has sought a seven-day remand of Eizaz for interrogation for which a hearing would be held in the court on Monday, he added. Earlier, during interrogation, Eizaz said that four persons from Kolkata – Mohammad Irshad, his two brothers Irfan and Jehangir, and son Ashfaque Ansari – had provided him with shelter and support, Mr Kumar said.
The police claimed that both Irshad and Jahangir were working for the Pakistani spy agency for more than 10 years and that they were passing on information from the country.
Ejaz, a resident of Islamabad, was arrested from Meerut Cantt space whereas on his method to Delhi.
“We received information about his movement a few days ago and during our course of investigation, we found that he was continuously moving around military bases in Western UP and was sending vital inputs to his bosses in Pakistan”, said Amit Pathak, SSP (STF).
