Three taken to hospital in Lancaster County hot air balloon crash
A day of fun quickly turned risky when a hot air balloon with three passengers struck a power line in Pennsylvania on Saturday evening, authorities said today.
The hot air balloon wound up in a farmer’s field at 649 Railroad Avenue, north of New Holland.
Its top got caught up on the power lines as it was deflating, said Sgt.
“There does not appear to be anything wrong with the balloon, and weather is not believed to be a factor”, he was quoted as saying by CNN.
Willwerth said the injured were transported to a hospital, but he did not know the severity of their injuries.
Police say the pilot, who is 55-years old, and his passengers, a 53-year old man and a 48-year old woman, were all taken to Lancaster General Hospital for treatment.
Police did not release their identities.
