Thurman disagrees with Mayweather branding himself ‘TBE’ | World Boxing News
Thurman said something about Collazo’s name being the only one that was mentioned to him for his next fight.
“No matter what happens I’ll have my own career”.
Thurman comes into the fight with alot of momentum on his side as he has yet to taste defeat and has scored knockouts in 21 of his 25 victories. “Hopefully everything goes well; we have a terrific knockout performance like we want to have; and we walk out with no injuries”. The 28-year-old boxer said that it is because of the public’s desire to see something different, adding that Mayweather Jr. has seen a boxing style similar to Thurman’s before.
“Thurman is somehow vetoing himself, another fighter who now joins the long list of fighters who are practically saying ‘Pick Me!” I’ve always looked forward to Collazo bouts because the man brings his heart and soul to each and every fight, and he leaves it all inside the ring once the bell tolls. In recent weeks, Mayweather has publicly proposed Andre Berto and the rather unheralded Karim Mayfield as potential fall opponents. If that was the case, then Thurman should have stayed out of the ring, or better yet he should have taken Mayweather up on his offer to fight Spence on his undercard in September. Thurman has been one of the hottest welterweight contenders in America for the past two years, so expect a raucous, partisan crowd. I understand the sport of boxing. Floyd is an intelligent businessman.
Do you want to fight? He believes it’s useless to have confidence he will face any fighter until a contract is signed and in his hand.
Thurman had in April accused Khan of avoiding a fight against him because the Brit apparently doesn’t like “laying on canvas”, Dog House Boxing reported. Thurman held the interim version of the WBA title, but he cashed it in for the official world title back in March when he defeated Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero on the very first PBC broadcast.
Thurman, who defends his world title against Luis Collazo on July 12, shares a business associate with Mayweather Jr in Al Haymon but is still sceptical over the chances of the fight being made.
“There are a lot of great welterweights out there right now and a lot of fights that I think would be fan-friendly”, Thurman said.
