Tide & Tigers fans riled up for the Iron Bowl
Auburn’s offensive deficiencies especially were on display in Saturday’s 29-13 loss to No. 2 Alabama in the Iron Bowl. However, when her brother and sister when to Auburn for college, she was “converted”, according to her Alabama fan husband.
Have you come across some impressive Auburn fan bitterness online?
Quarterback Jake Coker assessed his backfield mate and said, “He’s weird”.
Alabama entering this game is 10-1 straight up and 6-5 against the spread, while Auburn is 6-5 SU and 3-8 ATS.
-Dalvin Cook, Florida State, ran for 183 yards and two TDs to help the No. 14 Seminoles upend 10th-ranked Florida 27-2.
On the ensuing kickoff, Alabama returner Damien Harris lost the ball in the sun, and appeared to touch the football as it rolled past him. Under a heavy rush, Coker left the pocket and evaded two rushers before firing a dart on the run to Stewart in the end zone. A 15-yard personal foul was called on Auburn safety Johnathan Ford for a late hit on Coker as he exited the field. There were a lot of field goals.
Alabama has more recent national championships, yes, but Auburn will always own a tiny corner of the Tide mind. Those missed opportunities left Alabama, a 14-point favorite over Auburn, holding a slim 12-6 lead at the break.
-Tanner Mangum, BYU, threw four TD passes and became the first freshman in school history to pass for more than 3,000 yards in a season as the Cougars beat Utah State 51-28.
Auburn’s touchdown in the third quarter was equal parts athleticism and luck when Jason Smith tipped a ball to himself and split two Alabama defensive backs for a 77-yard score.
Romond Deloatch caught a touchdown for the Owls, who will play at No. 21 Houston for the AAC title on Saturday with a New Year’s Six bowl bid possibly at stake.
Alabama fans Chris Wynn and Lisa Wilson of Eva both grew up fans of the Crimson Tide. He demolished Richardson’s rushing mark thanks to a monster 271-yard, 46-carry(!) afternoon.
The Crimson Tide rode running back Derrick Henry to victory. He’s rushed for 1,796 yards, with possibly two more games to play.
The Willinghams run Willingham General Store at West Point, and she said she’ll watch the game while working Saturday while Wayne will probably be out in the woods hunting. In nine games against teams from the Power Five conferences, Henry averaged an eye-popping 176 rushing yards this season and has 1,797 yards and 22 touchdowns on the ground for the current No. 2 team in the country.
Kicker Adam Griffith also had a big game for the Crimson Tide in his return to Jordan-Hare since the infamous “kick-six” game 2013. His final field goal was a 47-yard effort in the fourth quarter, giving him the school record against the Tigers.
Auburn bounced right back with Smith’s improbable but eerily familiar touchdown catch. “This year we have struggled at times more, there some things we have done well and some things we haven’t done as well”. Alabama boasts the best front seven in the nation and the unit keeps getting better. The Huskies had just 138 yards of offense, including only 9 rushing yards. Of course, he’s about 30 yards closer this time around, but it’s enough to put the Tide up 3-0 early in the game.
