Tiger Woods Announces Decision to Play in Frys.com Open
There have been rumblings for some time about Woods participating in this year’s Frys.com Open.
We’ll see Tiger Woods early this year.
Hunter Mahan, Matt Kuchar and Lee Westwood came to Napa a year ago. Woods has officially announced he will be in Napa, California on October 15th today while McIlroy, Rose, Schwartzel, and Simpson haven’t committed, yet, but as per their agreement, are expected to be there as well.
Mahan, even though he fulfilled his obligation past year, has told tournament officials he will return next month.
With this kind of field the Frys.com Open will boast the strongest field it has ever had in its short history.
It will be McIlroy’s first appearance at the tournament, while Woods featured at the event in 2011. It is now the start of a wraparound season.
Woods and McIlroy are part of the so-called “Turkey Eight”, a group of eight top players who skipped the Frys in 2012 to play in a lucrative exhibition event in Turkey.
The future is here and Woods will join Rory McIlroy and others in the middle of October for what will be an abnormally huge tournament in the middle of football season.
