Tiger Woods posts video in response to injury reports
Woods’ agent, Mark Steinberg, denied the rumors, calling them “ridiculous and absolutely false”.
Three days after a report suggested Woods had faced a setback in his recovery from a pair of fall back surgeries, Woods tweeted a video of himself hitting a 9-iron into a simulator.
The video (http://bit.ly/1oHi2If ) had a time stamp of Wednesday. It shows Woods, in shorts and golf shoes, taking one smooth swing accompanied by the words, “Progressing nicely”. “It’s reprehensible that every few months someone makes something up and it’s treated like a real story”.
“This was meant more for all of Tiger’s fans who had reached out since all of this erroneous reporting came out over the weekend that he was so disabled he had to sit in the passenger seat of a auto, ” Steinberg said. Woods said in December that he misses competing and wants to return, though he does not appear to be in any rush this time.
He underwent a second procedure on September 16, 2015 to deal with a disk fragment that was pinching a nerve, and six weeks later underwent another procedure to address continuing discomfort.
Woods hasn’t played a round of golf on the PGA Tour since he finished tied for 10th at the Wyndham Championship in late August.
While Woods, who has slipped to No 445 in the world, will still struggle to return to the very peak of the game, the news will surely give his army of supporters some small hope that he could still yet pick up another major.
“He’s going to learn from the past”, Steinberg said.
