Woods has shot 61 four times on the PGA Tour, most recently at the 2013 Bridgestone Invitational which he won for his 79th career victory on tour, but he is still stuck on that mark. The fairways are so wide it doesn’t really test you off the tee. All the positives right now.

On in two on the 556-yard par-5 16th, Woods’ eagle putt from some 30 feet was off-line but he cleaned it up for birdie get to red double digits for the tournament but then immediately gave two shots back, going bogey-bogey at 17 and 18. He added a birdie at the ninth to tie Woods.
“I would have loved to have played Northern Trust but I thought for me it was better to take the week off and work on my game”, McIlroy told Golf Channel after his round. “There are a lot of good signs out there”. I get good support around here.

It didn’t hurt that Woods took Wednesday off. With a bogey on his penultimate hole, he had an 8-under 62 at Aronimink.
“I’m a little exhausted and need a nice ice bath because it was warm out there”. And 48 of the 69 players in the field are under par. He also skipped the Pro-Am due to the heatwave conditions.
