Tigers send three home from Orange Bowl
Three Clemson players have been suspended for the Orange Bowl after failing drug tests, The Clemson Insider and others reported Tuesday.
Multiple reports out of South Florida say three Clemson football players have been suspended from the Orange Bowl and sent home due to drug-related issues. Lakip was suspended the first three games of this season after his summer arrest for cocaine possession and driving under the influence. The freshman leads the Tigers in yards per catch at 17.1 and is tied for second on the team with five touchdowns. Greg Huegel inherited the kicking job and has kept it since. The freshman receiver is one of the team’s biggest deep threats in the passing game. Lakip, who handles kickoffs for Clemson, was projected to be the team’s starting kicker. McCullough, a redshirt junior, is a backup tight end without a catch this season.
Tigers coach Dabo Swinney is expected to address the matter Wednesday morning prior to his final organized media availability before Thursday’s Orange Bowl game against No. 4 Oklahoma.
