Tight-lipped ‘Game of Thrones’ cast reflects on last season
The shooting of the next adventures will take place in Northern Ireland, Spain, and Iceland. Benioff quipped back, “That didn’t occur to us, but thank you”.
Not only will the next season have a later premiere date as compared with past seasons, but it will also consist of fewer episodes – 7 to be exact, down from 10.
The new outtakes were unveiled as some of the cast and creators of Game Of Thrones gathered for a panel about the show at Comic-Con International in San Diego.
Season 6 of “Game of Thrones” just wrapped up in June which makes it a very long wait for next season to come.
Conleth Hill, who plays Lord Varys (looking unrecognizable with a full head of flowing locks), quickly dismissed the question and said he knows for sure who’ll be sitting on the throne at the end, so he can’t say. In easily one of the most eagerly anticipated panels at the 2016 San Diego Comic-Con, fans crowded Hall H to get a glimpse at what the cast and producers were going to reveal about season 7.
“When Nairn was brought out onstage for the panel, someone in the audience shouted, ‘Hold the door!’ – which prompted many others to yell out ‘Hodor!” But the audience in Hall H for the show’s Comic-Con panel today didn’t seem to mind – a lot of them seemed to be there specifically to mourn the death of Hodor (Kristian Nairn), as the fan-favorite character sacrificed himself midway through Season 6 in a scene that spawned many viewer tears and even more door-stopper puns.
Sophie offered up this explanation when asked why her character didn’t warn Jon Snow of the Knights of the Vale: “Sansa didn’t tell Jon because she wanted all the credit. I think she believed it was more of a joint effort… as far as [being] King and Queen of the North”. “He has wonderful morals, those Stark morals, [so she thinks] that inevitably he’ll make the good decision, but whether it’s going to benefit anyone is another story”.
Isaac Hempstead Wright (Bran Stark): “I think we should have a four pronged Stark dream team…. He’s having the best time of his life!”
Nairn went on to explain that the fan reaction to Hodor’s death has been “overwhelming”, saying, “I did not expect it to be so insane”. “I feel like it’s been building up to this, her first kill, and I’m so glad it was Ramsay”. Her awful fate however, is one that Davos actor Liam Cunningham said he wasn’t made aware of until he got the script in his hand. “I hope Missandei continues to support Daenerys, and they continue to be this girl power couple”.
