Tilda Swinton Is Completely Unrecognisable In New Movie ‘Trainwreck’
Famous for her avant-garde style and bare-bones approach to beauty, Tilda Swinton is unrecognizable – and shockingly conventional – as Dianna, the ruthless editor at a raunchy men’s magazine in Trainwreck.
Kyra Panchenko, the make-up artist for the film, told Entertainment Weekly: ‘She’s over the top, over-tanned, and does everything in the biggest way.
The first step toward achieving the Oscar winner’s makeover was a daily, hour-long session with self-tanning cream, followed by “layers and layers” of bronzers on her face and décolletage. Swinton is a natural redhead but wears her hair cropped and icy blond.
From there they focused on swapping out Swintons normally subtle eye makeup for a deep, dark, smoky eye look, slathering on eyeliner and eye shadow until they resembled bottomless pits.
She says, “I had this idea that she (Dianne) was styling herself on Carine Roitfeld… and that somebody once probably said she looked a bit like Carine, but she doesn’t look anything like Carine…”
While she doesn’t look like an ice queen anymore, her character is billed as being just as formidable.
“I’m delighted to say that I’m unrecognisable”, she said “I don’t know whether one would really want to be recognisable in this role”.
In her next movie, Doctor unusual with Benedict Cumberbatch, Tilda has signed up to play the comic book hero’s mentor, Tibetan mystic The Ancient One, a role which is written as male in the comics.
