Tile tracking device now helps you in finding phone
It’s now louder, so when you ping Tile you’ll be able to hear it better, and it can now help your find your lost phone.
When Tile co-founders Mike Farley and Nick Evans spoke to MobileSyrup in 2013, they said they would try to release yearly hardware updates for their innovative Bluetooth tracker. The device’s alert ring, at 90dB, is three times as loud as the previous version’s.
You can also turn any nearby smartphones (both Android and iOS) into virtual Tiles without needing the actual dongle. That means that you can ring your lost phone from that other device. The idea of Tile is for it to act as a tracker, allowing you to clip it onto anything like a bag, your wallet, onto your kids, onto keys, onto pets, and more, thus allowing you to keep track of things and be notified when it is out of range or missing. Tile is a small, Bluetooth-enabled square that connects to your smartphone or tablet and serves as a beacon whenever pinged.
Tile – the tiny device that allows users to find their keys, purse or phone – is getting an update starting Wednesday, according to The Verge. Even if the phone’s volume is turned down or the ringer is disabled, Tile will still ring it loudly. And now you can get yourself a Tile while buying a new T-Mobile phone, picking up some other accessories, or paying your bill.
The second-generation model can now work in the reverse.
You can opt to ship the new Tile into the UK from the Tile website, but this will virtually double the final cost of a single Tile device through shipping charges (it’ll be $46/£29 rather than $25/£16). “We are thrilled to expand the Tile community to include T-Mobile”. Not only this, Mr. Legere is further sweetening the deal for the customers by giving away 50 units of Tile on Twitter for absolutely free.
