Tim Sweeney Introduces Android ‘Fortnite’ During Samsung Unpacked Event

The announcement was made at the Samsung Unpacked event in NY, where fans of the popular battle royale game were expecting Fortnite related Android news. The screen is almost identical to the Note 9’s, too – you’re not losing out on brightness, colors or resolution here. With the Galaxy Note 9, Samsung is even bolder, asking for a three-zeros price tag for the base model. The S Pen is said to be the highlight of the handset and come with new features such as camera shutter, control music playback and more. At a glance, the Note 9 is tough to tell apart from the Note 8, so are the relatively minor tweaks enough to justify an upgrade? If you’re not into those colors, you may want to cover up with a case. Outside the U.S., it’ll come in black and copper. Like other Galaxy phones, the Note 9 is water resistant, and features an infinity displayand wireless charging.

There’ll be a second version, however, for those who really do refuse to compromise.

Not only is it the Note Series’ biggest phone to date, with a 6.4inch screen, the rumours are true; it’s now Samsung’s first 512gb phone. For those who absolutely can not stream or be bothered to manage their storage, and want a seemingly infinite amount of room, the Note 9’s 512GB storage – plus another 512GB via an SD card – will make the buying decision a whole lot easier. And with the microSD expansion option, you can bring that up to a total of 1TB. Plenty of space for games, work documents, and 4K video files. Now we have the Galaxy Note9 and it’s more than just a minor upgrade from the Galaxy Note8.

Now that it features a much bigger 4,000mAh battery, the Galaxy Note 9 has a nice heft to it.

Chinese rival Huawei predicted last week that it would become the world’s top smartphone seller by volume – displacing Samsung – in the final quarter of next year. A player asked exactly that on Reddit, and a further Epic response says next week’s info “should hopefully clear up some commonly asked questions around this”.

Unlike old DeX phones, however, plugging the Note 9 into a display doesn’t prevent you from using the phone as a phone. Samsung has priced it at $1,249.99. We’d expect to learn that soon.

Eager customers can pre-order the Galaxy Note 9 starting tonight at midnight (12:01AM EDT). At that point you’ll be able to buy the Note 9 from carriers and from Samsung direct, as well as through other retailers.

Samsung said on stage that you can use the Galaxy Watch for several days without having to recharge it.

To tempt you into preordering, there are some deals to sweeten the price.

If you pre-order (from August 10 to August 23), you may get a freebie (but there are limited quantities available). This allows you to switch between f/2.4 for outdoor environments to a faster f/1.5 in low light scenes. The game will not be available in the Play Store. While the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 isn’t as exciting as the Note 8, it’s still a very, very refined and capable flagship smartphone. European markets are also expected to miss out on the copper color option.
