Times Square on New Year’s to be ‘safest place in the world’
Mayor Bill de Blasio sought Tuesday morning to reassure residents of and visitors to New York City that the police force would keep them safe during New Year’s Eve celebrations. Maureen Dexter of Washington was the contest victor and shredded her weight loss “before” photo after she lost 70 pounds.
A mobile shredding truck was on hand Monday at Times Square for those wanting to destroy their memories. Good Riddance Day also included a contest where the victor would be the first to shred their memory to kick off the event.
While some people got rid of documents, others smashed items such as a laptop and a pill bottle. “We’ve lived in the city for seven years and I just realized that they do this”. We’ll have a huge number of police out on New Year’s Eve, including a lot of our new anti-terror force, the Critical Response Command.
