Tinder Debuts New Matching Algorithm and Profile Features
The introduction of this new messaging layout should prove more organized than previous versions, which users have been known to complain about.
Tinder haven’t clarified what information and data will added to their search parameters just yet but it’s widely expected to be the addition of job and education information.
First up are what Tinder calls “Smart Profiles”, which will now not only include details on a user’s job history and education background, but also highlight information that they and the browser have in common. Apparently these were the two most popular requests from users when they were asked for feedback by Tinder, so it added these features, and made tweaks to the algorithm which it claims is “leading to a significant increase in matches”. Discussing the new algorithm, Tinder CTO Ryan Ogle says, “With the updated algorithm, machine learning technology assesses and interprets the signals sent by our millions of users”.
“With our ears even closer to the ground, we provide users with the most relevant potential matches to result in more meaningful connections”. The online matchmaker introduced “Super likes” back in September, but now they’re going even further. Furthermore, the message hub has been redesigned to allow to you keep track of recent conversations and recent matches more efficiently. There are also a few updates to it’s messenger, with matches you’ve chatted with separated out from those you haven’t, and a running list of new matches at the top of your screen (nothing says love more than constant comparison to other people).
This new-look navigation stream is meant to simplify the messaging experience to help users can keep track of their conversations, the company said.
Tinder, which was launched in 2012, is used by nearly 10m people worldwide, who spend an average of 35 minutes on the app per day.
