Tinder operating a members-only version of its app
According to TechCrunch, Tinder has been operating a secret version of its dating app called Tinder Select, an invitation-only service reserved specifically for the most swipe righty-worthy users. Numbers are always kept to a bare minimum, however, to maintain its exclusivity.
Tinder Select feels like a separate app but it’s apparently integrated into the normal Tinder app. There’s also Raya, the ultra-exclusive dating app for hot, creative, and/or famous people dubbed the “Illuminati Tinder”. However, TechCrunch has boiled it down to the “generally attractive” and “relatively high-profile”.
Tinder Select is the dating app’s secretive invitation-only service, aimed squarely at the rich and the lovely, a user told TechCrunch.
Tinder isn’t the only premium, private mobile dating app out there. Tinder, however, isn’t really the first dating service that’s only for “elite” users. However, the nominees don’t have the privilege to nominate anyone else, which has so far helped Tinder maintain the secrecy of the reticent layer of the app. Once you get into the elite world of Tinder Select, you will hold the power of inviting or “nominating” your friend or anyone for joining the secret world of Tinder. Tinder Select features a blue color scheme while the Tinder for regular users features an orange color scheme.
“This will allow celebrities to enter Tinder in a different way”, Tinder CEO Sean Rad said at the time. Then, of course, there’s The League, an invite-only app that accepts ambitious young professionals based on their educational and professional achievements.
TechCrunch hinted that Tinder might never officially announce the feature – let alone roll it out to a larger group of users – because it’s now being stealthy about the whole thing.
