Titans agree to terms with veteran receiver Andre Johnson
Johnson spent 12 years with the Texans before having a lackluster season with the Colts in 2015.
In 2015, Johnson appeared in all 16 games with 14 starts for the Indianapolis Colts.
Signing Johnson adds to a group of Titans skill position players that has depth. It’s murky, but it takes some deep searching and logic-stretching to come up with an argument that he will make a large impact.
The deal is reportedly over two years, although the financials were not disclosed. Tennessee head coach Mike Mularkey is on-board, however, going on the radio recently and figuring out a way to argue that Johnson will be good.
Johnson is perhaps most remembered by Titans fans for how he roughed up cornerback Cortland Finnegan in a fight during a Titans-Texans game in 2011. So it’s not like he was a deep bench player.
“Andre, he is proven, man, ” linebacker Brian Orakpo said of the seven-time Pro Bowler.
Entering the season as the No. 2 receiver behind T.Y.
Johnson’s place on the depth chart remains to be seen.
Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota said he’s happy to have Johnson in the fold. This includes 2015 Heisman Trophy victor Derrick Henry, former Cowboys star DeMarco Murray, and wide receivers Dorial Beckham-Green and Kendall Wright. “Obviously his career in Houston says a lot about who he is a player”.
The veteran 6-Foot-3, 229-pound wide receiver agreed to terms with the team Friday.
