Titans lose final game of the season 30-24
Josh Freeman will start at quarterback for the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday against the Tennessee Titans, the team announced on Sunday morning. Freeman did it all, leading the Colts with eight tackles, with two sacks, a pair of tackles for losses and an interception returned for a touchdown. The pick was a short pass that skipped through the hands of running back Boom Herron into the hands of Da’Norris Searcy deep in Colts territory, setting up a short touchdown run by Titans quarterback Zach Mettenberger.
Alex Tanney, who spent most of the season on Indy’s practice squad, finished the game and threw a TD pass.
Josh Freeman ran the regular offense, Ryan Lindley the two-minute drill.
-LB Jerrell Freeman’s 23-yard, second-half interception return for a touchdown marked the fourth time this season Indianapolis registered a pick-six.
With a coaching decision so obviously in flux, it is hard to project who the Titans will be focusing on in the 2016 NFL Draft.
Having fallen short of a playoff berth, coach Chuck Pagano and the Indianapolis Colts may learn as quickly as Monday if team owner Jim Irsay plans to make sweeping changes. Fleener had seven receptions for 88 yard, gaining 57 of those yards on a deep seam route touchdown.
The matchup undoubtedly will boil down to which quarterback is better able to limit his mistakes while making just enough plays to make a difference.
Who will claim the final playoff spots up for grabs?
In short: The Titans need a lot of work.
If the Browns do their homework and decide that Goff or Lynch are an improvement over the current quarterback situation on the team, then selecting one of them is a no-brainer. The Colts chipped at the Titans lead with a 52-yard field goal from Adam Vinatieri.
We’re expecting Freeman to get the nod for the Colts if for no other reason than his resume is much deeper than Lindley’s.
Denzelle Good replaced Reitz midway through the third quarter but lasted just two plays, leaving the Colts with just five healthy offensive linemen – albeit briefly.
The Titans answered back with an impressive drive on their next possession, however, as Mettenberger drove the team 80 yards on 11 plays. An 18-yard touchdown catch by Johnson included the vet stretching the ball out across the pylon for the score. Two years later, he would eclipse the 4,000-yard passing mark.
