Police said the one-year-old was home alone with her four older siblings, all under the age of five, when the unthinkable happened.
A baby girl in Houston has died after her two 3-year-old brothers put her in an oven and turned it on, according to KTRK.
“She was a sweet baby”, Gina Dennis, the child’s grandmother, told Click2Houston.
The boys made the oven “hot”, and the baby kicked at the oven door, they said to investigators, according to KTRX.
“All I can tell you is they’re good people they keep their kids together so I don’t know what happened”.
A TODDLER has burned to death in an oven while playing with her young siblings after their mother left them home alone, police said. Thompson attempted CPR when she got home, but the child was declared dead. KPRC reported that the 5-year-old was placed in a separate home from the two 3-year-olds.
Authorities removed three Houston children from their mother who left them in their apartment unit unsupervised. Because of lack of a suitable relative to take care of the kids now, the three surviving children were placed in a foster care home. “At this time, the incident appears to be an accident”. Raquel has another older child who lives with the father, and she is also seven months pregnant by her boyfriend. Emergency responders arrived shortly after midnight, but there was nothing they could do to save J’zyra Thompson. No charges have been filed against the mother or her boyfriend, although CPS said in court filings that criminal charges are expected. “CPS had prior involvement with the mother and her children”, agency spokeswoman Estella Olguin told AP in an email.
