Toddler killed in hit-and-run following South Side shooting
A boy was killed after being hit by a vehicle that may have been fleeing A shooting on the South Side Saturday afternoon, as indicated by Chicago Police.
The boy was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital, Chicago fire officials said, where he was pronounced dead. After the shooting, a 10-month-old child in a stroller was hit by a vehicle at the intersection of 63rd and Ellis, as stated by police and fire officials. “They’re still traumatized”, said community activist Andrew Holmes.
Dillan Harris was with relatives, heading to a family outing Saturday when a driver lost control, jumped a curb and hit him.
Witnesses told reporters the car ran down the stroller and kept going before later crashing. A 22-year-old was killed in the shooting and the suspects are said to have fled the scene. “It was sad. The mother was in the middle of the street just devastated”.
A woman, assumed to be the boy’s mother, could be seen wailing on the ground in distress as emergency responders tried to calm her down after the incident. Police confirm that they are talking to two suspects, but no charges have been filed in connection to either the fatal shooting or to the accident that claimed Dillan’s life.
Police say that they have two possible offenders in custody and are looking for a third.
