Toddler loses foot in lawn mower accident
Tobin adds that: “The Pasco Fire Rescue packed the amputated leg on ice and the boy was trauma alerted to a Tampa area hospital”.
A 2-year-old boy was seriously injured by a riding lawn mower in rural Spring Hill on Saturday morning, authorities said.
According the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office, Tiffany May Collins, 33, was riding a commercial zero-turn mower at the family’s property on Orange Drive when her son, 2-year-old Zayden “Bean” Collins ran towards her. Collins tried to shut off the mower, but could not react fast enough.
The amputation is about 3 inches above the ankle, the uncle told reporters.
As the boy approached the mower, he fell in such a way that his leg went beneath the mower.
Friends and family have set up a GoFundMe account to help raise funds for the 2-year-old’s medical expenses.
Two people had donated a total of $45 toward the $10,000 goal as of Sunday evening. “As much as everybody wants to say he should have been supervised, well for any single parent out there, they know it’s hard to watch a kid”.
Zayden, nicknamed “Bean”, is expected to undergo another surgery on Monday or Tuesday.
Ireland Nugent, then 2, lost both feet when her father clipped her legs while cutting the grass at their Palm Harbor home.
Tiffany Collins Facebook page says that she is employed by a Tampa lawn maintenance company. The little girl was also taken to the Tampa General Hospital.
