Toddler rescued from hot vehicle, mother charged
Hannah Secondi’s 1-year-old daughter is alive and safe, but when police approached Secondi in the parking lot of a Owasso, OK, Walmart, it wasn’t clear she would be.
A police camera caught the moment when the 38-year-old mother came out of the Wal-Mart Supercenter in a northern suburb of Tulsa and was confronted with the news that her child had been left inside her vehicle.
“She’s dead!”, a woman off-camera said.
Officers responded to the store in Owasso after receiving a report that a small child was left inside a vehicle in the parking lot.
Secondi was crying uncontrollably and placed her head into her hands while holding what appeared to be a receipt. I can’t believe I did that. She was held in lieu of $50,000 bail, as stated by KFOR.
Chrysty Lansdowne does not count herself as a hero for saving the young child. “Oh, my God! My husband’s going to kill me”.
Upon arrival, officers were told by witnesses that they removed the child from the vehicle which had its “windows and doors closed”, he said. “Oh, my God!” Secondi is seen saying. “I completely forgot. The day has been insane, ‘ and she was alone”, she said.
“If the baby had been unconscious or asleep, we would have had no idea”, says Jedidiah Bizzell.
When the 1-year-old arrived at a local hospital, the child’s internal temperature was more than 100 degrees. “There was no reason why the baby should have been left in the auto”.
The toddler was treated and released into the custody of her father after the incident.
