Tom Brady: Brady plans to attend second court hearing
The person spoke on condition of anonymity because they weren’t authorized to speak on behalf of Brady, who was absent from the New England Patriots practice Tuesday, per local reports.
Brady was not at the Patriots’ practice Tuesday in Foxborough and reportedly will not practice Wednesday in West Virginia, where the reigning Super Bowl champions are holding joint workouts with the Saints.
Judge Richard Berman has already stated that Brady and Commissioner Roger Goodell were not required to attend the second hearing in the court case over the Patriots QB’s Deflategate suspension.
It’s unclear why the quarterback wasn’t at practice – there’s always the possibility that Brady was excused to be at the court date in New York City on Wednesday.
The NFL isn’t commenting on its attendees for Wednesday’s hearing.
Head coach Bill Belichick, who’s notoriously fickle about not letting players appear in games after missing practice time, let Brady take snaps in the team’s preseason opener.
Both sides have requested Judge Berman to make a decision by Sept. 4 if the settlement talks are unsuccessful.
Brady is seeking to overturn the suspension for his role in the use of deflated footballs in the AFC Championship Game.
The Patriots return to action Saturday afternoon against the New Orleans Saints.
