Tom Brady has sprained ankle, MRI confirms
A 10-0 start to the season petered out into a 12-4 final record. The NFC Divisional game Jan. 16 is 8:15 p.m. On Jan. 17, the NFC Divisional game is at 1:05 p.m. on FOX and the AFC Divisional game is at 4:40 p.m. on CBS.
That last comment was in reference to the pressure New England quarterback Tom Brady faced all day.
That includes Sunday’s 20-10 loss to the Miami Dolphins, who were eliminated from playoff contention weeks ago. Patriots WR Julian Edelman (foot), LT Sebastian Vollmer (ankle), DE Chandler Jones (toe/abdomen) and LB Dont’a Hightower (knee) sat out but are on track to return for the playoffs.
The injury occurred during the loss to Dolphins when Marcus Cannon grabbed Ndamukong Suh’s facemask, forcing the defensive lineman to fall onto the quarterback’s right leg. As a result of the nasty second quarter play, Brady suffered a sprained ankle, as confirmed by a post-game MRI.
“We’ll be a different team in two weeks than we are from (Monday) based on how we practice and the guys who go out there and play”, Brady continued. Suh came around the edge and launched himself towards Brady’s legs, bringing him awkwardly to the ground with his back folding over Suh’s body. “300 pounds, he just collapses the back of your leg. There’s going to be some residual damage from that”.
“We don’t know who we’re going to play, it could be one of three teams, so the whole week is going to be about us”, said Slater. “I’ve had plenty of worse injuries than this one”.
“I’m doing all right”.
What that reporter was talking about was Brady’s status for the divisional round. There are some players we haven’t seen in a while. “We’ll see how it goes this week”.
“We’ll find out where we are in a couple weeks”.
The defending Super Bowl champions are not playing like the team to beat right now. “That’s all that really matters”, Brady said.
New England won’t know who they are playing until the Wild Card round concludes this weekend.
For Belichick to have time to recoup the team and win beyond Brady in Foxboro, he would need the GOAT QB to retire after his deal in 2017 is up with the New England Patriots. For the game, Tannehill went 25 for 38 with 350 total yards and had two passing touchdowns with no interceptions. They attempted just 5 passes in the first half yesterday. Steven Jackson had the only real production through the air early, with a 20-yard screen.
Brady needed medical attention after taking a big hit in the second quarter of Sunday’s game against the Dolphins. So would getting Tannehill a respectable offensive line, considering he’s been the most sacked quarterback in the National Football League for the past four seasons.
New England ran the ball 21 times in the first half, but Gronkowski wasn’t looking to discuss the curious run-first approach that’s a rarity for the Patriots.
