Tom Brady jabs at Peyton Manning, Broncos in private emails
Brady is apparently friends with Vancouver Canucks owner Francesco Aquilini, who asked the Patriots quarterback would be willing to share his body care secrets with the team at a private meeting at the Four Seasons in Boston.
Emails submitted as evidence in Tom Brady’s case against the NFL are giving fans some unusual insight into the psyche of the New England Patriots quarterback.
Brady was emailing with a childhood friend Kevin Brady, who brought up a Grantland article comparing the two quarterbacks and outlining Manning’s decline.
While Brady is likely accurate in his assessment that Manning probably doesn’t have many years left, no one’s going to want him throwing around a football when he’s 45 years old either.
Brady and Manning have met 16 times on the field, with Brady holding an 11-5 edge, but they have split four playoff games, with Manning winning two of three AFC Championship games. In another email, Brady mentions that “Manning needs things to be flawless to succeed, weather, his system, etc”.
News about Tom Brady’s emails came just a day after the media revealed that, based on the appeal transcript, he had denied under oath claims that he was involved in any wrongdoing in the Deflategate scandal.
Beav appears several times in the release in essay-lenght emails that include scouting reports of the opposition and friendly reminiscence, to each of which Brady responds simply and tersely with some variation of “Thanks, Beav”.
Brady, of course, spoke a little too soon about their Week 9 game being the “final chapter” – the Patriots visit Denver in Week 12 this season. “That’s what our team is all about”. In one of them, Brady calls a pool company “morons” for not having a white cover, although his wife, Gisele, eventually decided on the color gray.
Peyton Manning rivalry is fairly one-sided. “Everything’s usually at stake”. Rest, rehab, reflect – Lets get ready for this run.
