Tom Brady loses out on NFL Player of the Week award, again
The NFL battled Tom Brady for months over the Deflategate saga in which the quarterback eventually won. But does the league really have it out for Brady and the Patriots?
Brady has put up the best numbers of any NFL quarterback this season and has yet to win the NFL Player of the Week award. In two games, Brady has 754 yards, seven touchdowns and zero interceptions. All three are NFL highs among quarterbacks.
But why hasn’t Brady earned the Player of the Week honors yet?
In Week One, the honor went to Tennessee Titans rookie Marcus Mariota who threw four first-half touchdowns in his debut. Okay, that’s understandable. But Week Two went to Ben Roethlisberger, which is a little confusing.
Like the article points out, it’s just an award. But at the same time it seems like the NFL has kept its agenda against Brady after he defeated them and didn’t have to serve a four-game suspension.
As long as Brady keeps putting up the numbers, Patriots fans won’t mind.
This week, it’s the Jacksonville Jaguars coming to town and – as luck would have it – Belichick was provided with a lot of useful data on Sunday. In the receiving end, Rob Gronkowski had 113 yards and one touchdown in seven receptions while Lewis added 98 yards in six catches.
In other words, Bortles’ arrow is pointing up. He was on the field for more than 90 percent of the snaps. He’s in the midst of a nine-game streak of under-60 percent completions.
It’s time to panic if you’re the owner of C.J. Anderson; it’s been pretty grim if you took Anderson in the second expecting a repeat of 2014’s success.
It was an all-too-familiar performance from a quarterback who has feasted on the Bills during a 15-year run of dominance. “And we have to get better”. Let’s take a closer look at some of the more notable (or frustrating, if you wish) backfield timeshares across the league, and see what there is to know heading into Week 3. With Tom Brady out for revenge, and with no signs him stopping (albeit Goodell laments over this), one side of this season’s Super Bowl match is all but determined.
Digressing back to the Packers: quarterback Aaron Rodgers has said on the record that he over-inflates footballs purposely because he finds them easier to grip. Whatever our team needs to do to beat them, that’s what we need to do. “This game is all about matchups, and they got exposed some just in terms of their ability to match up across the board”. They’re very sound in what they do.
It’s Sunday afternoon at Ralph Wilson Stadium, Patriots vs. Buffalo Bills, about five minutes into the second quarter, and the nice people from Guinness World Records already are packing up their equipment and heading home. “Their game last week against Miami I think was a carryover from a lot of what we saw in preseason – how efficient they were, the growth and maturity of their young players”.
Bortles recognizes he’s going against a very stiff test and an established group.
“Sometimes, I think you got to step up into the pocket, too”, said Ryan, who understood that it was tough for Taylor to get outside the pocket. I set up the account at the same time wewantmarangi.blogspot.com launched, then nearly immediately forgot about it. But I have been looking for a way to share opinions completely stripped of context or nuance with friends, family and total strangers, and the 140-character limit seems ideal. In 2007, in what was referred to as Spygate, the Patriots were caught illegally filming practices of opposing teams in order to gain a competitive advantage.
“We have to clean that up and learn from it, but at the same time we did some things that we can take from this game”. (Blake) Bortles creates a lot of problems for you. Half the time the corners weren’t even up on the line in press, for goodness sake.
That said, he did acknowledge that it’s a noteworthy game for him.
After watching this film, it’s truly a wonder the Patriots didn’t hang half a hundred on the Bills last weekend, but I bet the Bills won’t be so lucky if they come with the same weak shit the next time they play.
It didn’t matter much to Lewis that Ryan didn’t know his name before the game – or after.
Another late-game letup, Belichick said, could lead to trouble against this upstart Jags squad. “He looks tremendous, and I am so happy and so proud of him”. They do a really good job of keeping you on your toes.
