Tom Brady Wasn’t Endorsing Donald Trump for President, Doesn’t Even Know What
A few weeks ago, speculation began that Tom Brady was supporting Donald Trump’s bid for the president when a “Make America Great Again” hat appeared in Brady’s locker. When asked whether he thinks Trump has what it takes to win the presidency, Brady said: “I hope so”.
On his weekly radio appearance with WEEI, Brady said that he’d prefer to topple Brett Favre’s record for consecutive starts than anything else.
“With (McDaniels) and I being together for as long as we have and having the chemistry that we have, we see things so much the same way now”, he said. “I understand why people do run with it, because you get the clicks and that type of stuff”. “I mean it’s just people doing their job”. It’s actually not something that I really even enjoy. I haven’t paid attention to politics in a long time so… “Because I think that’s something that is a reflection of the commitment that you make”.
“Just being available to your team”, Brady said, “I mean, you’re no help to your team if you’re on the sideline”.
Brady, who said the wedding is in Boston, was then asked a hypothetical by host John Dennis on when the best bye week would normally be.
Brady said that he wanted to be able to do what Favre did, and also mentioned Peyton Manning, but for the good of the team, not individual achievement. “There’d be a putting green on the White House lawn, I’m sure of that”. I think that’s a pretty fantastic thing. “I think that’s just the way it is and the way our culture is right now”. But a few things a lot of times they get taken out of context. “The fact that he’s running has obviously led to a lot of stories and debates and ratings were huge for all those Republican debates and so forth”. “Everything is really out there”.
Add on a 2004 season where he was Brady’s quarterback coach and the 2001 and 2002 seasons as an assistant, maybe no one on the staff knows Brady like he does.
