Tom Cruise Will Be Back For Mission Impossible 6
The Mission: Impossible franchise launched in 1966 with the original CBS television series, which ran for seven seasons and 171 episodes. “Now sources tell THR that issues have been resolved and Mission is being re-started”. Mission: Impossible 6 is now set to begin production in the spring of 2017 with Christopher McQuarrie, who previously helmed Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, once again writing and directing.
Last month it was announced that Paramount had halted pre-production on M:I 6 Mission Impossible, the sixth instalment of the blockbuster spy franchise, owing to contractual disputes with producer and leading man Tom Cruise
The studio wanted to give Cruise around what he made for Rogue Nation, while Cruise wanted a salary more in line with his bigger payday for Universal’s The Mummy.
Paramount has hired a handful of people in London to start designing the visual effects.
Mission: Impossible 6’s future looked uncertain due to production being halted for negotiations over the star’s pay, but it looks like things are back on track, albeit a little delayed.
Mission: Impossible 6 is still in the early stages of development with work underway on a screenplay. Ferguson was the breakout star of “Rogue Nation” with her cool, confident Faust, so it’s no surprise that she’s back for more missions that are (almost) impossible. Tom Cruise is returning as Ethan Hunt, special agent for the Impossible Mission Force who will have to undertake a risky mission riddled with action and cool high-tech gadgets. Cruise might tend to agree since the sixth film is also being written and directed by McQuarrie, which is the first time a helmer has had an encore act in the franchise’s history. The film does not now have a release date.
