Tom Daley and Dustin Lance Black Announce Their Engagement
Screenwriter Dustin Lance Black and British Olympic diver Tom Daley have spoken out for the first time about their recent engagement.
The 21-year-old diver has been dating Dustin, who is 20 years his senior, for two and a half years, and on Thursday, they announced their engagement in the Births, Marriages and Deaths section of The Times.
The couple went public with their romance shortly after Daley revealed via a YouTube video in December 2013 that he was in a same-sex relationship.
“Daley wrote: “#HeSaidYES and then #ISaidYES ❤️Thanks for all the lovely messages!” “Dream come true. #IsaidYES then #HeSaidYes”.
Dustin echoed his sentiments, posting the photo and captioning it: “Thank you so much for all of the kind words and well wishes”.
While the couple hasn’t announced an official date, Daley’s mother Debbie Daley told The Telegraph that the pair will wait until after her son’s appears in the 2016 Olympic games in Rio. “When Tom told me I could just feel the excitement in his voice. I am not sad because in losing Tom I gain another, so it makes everything all good”.
Yesterday Tom’s mum Debbie said: “The whole family is extremely excited and looking forward to the big day”. Debbie additionally stated in that the family has taken a shine to Dustin, 41, who she refers to as “Lance”, & described him as a “very likeable human being who gets together with everybody”.
